Thermal Upgrades and Repairs

Cooling towers are excellent air washers, and in many cases excellent water filters. Depending on the operations the cooling tower fill may become saturated with solids that deposit in the laminar areas and inhibit the cooling tower’s performance. The TTG team has expert knowledge in cooling tower fill retrofits to decrease the static load on the tower, increase the cooling capacity and improve the overall operating efficiency of the unit.

Aftermarket Upgrades

  • Film Fill Replacement/Retrofit
  • Wood to PVC conversion
  • Non-Fouling fill installation
  • Splash fill replacement/retrofit
  • Mechanical and Fill upgrade packages

Replacement Parts

  • Film Fill Packs
  • Splash fill bar
  • Splash fill grid

Steel Component Repair and Corrosion Protection

Cooling Tower structural materials are often selected without regard to the severe environment in which they operate. It is not uncommon to see individual parts deteriorate far before the entire unit. To help increase the life cycle of cooling towers and prevent water loss and further equipment damage, we have developed a variety of aftermarket services to keep your tower running well beyond its intended use.

Aftermarket Upgrades

  • Galvanized to stainless conversion
  • Basin and tank linings
  • Valve Retrofits
  • Mechanical Access Platforms

Replacement Parts

  • Hot Water Basins and Covers
  • Casing Panels
  • Splash Diverters
  • Air Inlet Louvers
  • Factory OEM Parts (BAC®, Cooling Tower Depot®, and Niagara®)

New Tower Construction and Installation

In the fast paced market of today, there is sometimes little or no opportunity for the owner to take their cooling tower offline for repair. For this reason TTG provides new field erected and packaged tower installations. We are a supplier of Heat Exchangers new and aftermarket cooling towers along with an assortment of modular steel new and used cooling towers for direct replacement.

  • Field Erected Towers
  • Packaged Cooling Towers
  • Custom built units for unique environments

Mechanical Equipment Service

The mechanical equipment is considered to be the heart of every cooling tower. In the complex workplace of today we understand that organizations are being asked to do less with more. We have made it our priority to provide quality mechanical service for any task ranging from routine preventative maintenance to large geardrive retrofits.

Routine Maintenance

  • Oil Changes
  • Alignments
  • Blade adjustment
  • Gearbox, fan and motor repairs
  • Vibration analyses
  • Fan balancing

Mechanical Upgrades

  • New fan assemblies
  • Geardrive replacement and retrofits

Inspection Services and Application Engineering

Sometimes the best tool in the box is the instruction manual, but there are instances where the manual is vague, out of date or all together missing. It is for this reason that TTG has developed one of the best inspection teams in the industry. Our combination of Field engineers, drafters and skilled tradesmen have developed an approach that provides our clients with excellent detail on the current status of their cooling tower and the pertinent information that they will need for improvement. Whether you have a small tower that has lost efficiency or a large unit that has lost capacity our inspection team will provide excellent details and solutions for your current issues.

Technical Evaluation

  • Technical Inspection Reports
  • Vibration Analysis
  • Failure Analysis
  • Operations Evaluation
  • Specification Production

Engineering Process

Allow us to give you a little insight into our engineering process and see how we can assist in your new cooling tower construction or refurbishment.

Detailed Inspection

  • Document deviations from original design and any areas where originial design is deficient
  • Report delivered that communicates tower condition

Define the Scope of Work

  • Inspection, Engineering and Design team review inspection findings to identify a scope of work
  • Identify source of deficiencies and review original design criteria

Develop Repair Plan

  • Consider means and methods of construction used for implementing new materials.
  • Review end user constraints, process demands and schedule.

Management of Change (MOC)

  • Summary of tower original design criteria
  • Identify issues that were corrected
  • Specifications of materials used
  • Location of changes that are made
  • Detailed AS-Built drawings and calculation package

Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  • Training
  • Review differences in materials used and appropriate method for safe implementation

Procurement of Project Material

  • Reference management of change and repair plan to procure the correct project material.
  • Consider special equipment needed for installation of new materials

Execution of the Project Scope

  • Mobilization of repair forces and equipment
  • Review differences original design and new design, ensure changes are feasible
  • QA/QC Review to document deviations in completed work from repair plan and coordinate into final “as-built” drawings
